BEYOND THE LIMITS

Lines of Ukrainian choral music, written in neat rows or spirals, graphic images of hands, cut-out letters forming the words “you and I, and we, and all of us”, repeated countless times like a mantra — these are the core elements of Lidiia Borysenko’s project “Music That Went Beyond the Limits.”

From the combination and interweaving of completely different symbolic lines, a new meaning emerges, rich with nuances. At the heart of the work is the artist’s emphasis on the unity of all people, the harmony of the celestial and the earthly within a human being, and the love that can be easily shared through hands. (“Hands grow from the heart,” Lidiia believes.)

She also highlights the possibility that each of us holds: the ability to go beyond imagined limitations — including spatial ones. Lidiia’s two-dimensional graphics expand into a third dimension — the interior space.
